Politics: Devolved Nations

There are no people of Hindu origin in the Scottish, Welsh or Northern Ireland Parliaments.

Scottish Parliament

There are 129 Members of the Scottish Parliament of which are 2 (1.6%). They are Humza Yousaf (SNP) and Hanzala Malik (Labour), both of whom are elected from the Regional List for Glasgow.

Welsh Parliament

In 2011, the  number of ethnic minority Members of the National Assembly for Wales went from one to two following. Vaughan Gething (Labour) joined Mohammad Asghar (Conservative) who had previously been elected for Plaid Cymru in 2007. Together they are 3.3% of the Assembly’s 60 AMs.

Northern Ireland

There are no ethnic minorities in the Northern Ireland legislature.
